Primary Schools Cross country championships - 29th February 2020

On Saturday 29th February 2020, the children took part in the annual County Cross Country races at Chiltern Edge School, Sonning Common. Despite high winds of 70mph and rain forecast this did not put off the Wantage runners!

We had 26 runners take part from KS1 with Martime, Lyra, Alice and Franklin all finishing in the top 10.

In the year 3 race Hayden secured a 2nd place medal in his race finishing very strong. He was closely followed by the year 3 team Noah 7th, Dylan 8th, Oliver 10th and Elliot 11th. The girls race had two top 10 finishers with Poppy in 6th place and Orla in 9th place.

In year 5 and 6 races, Rose and Zach finished just outside the medals in 4th place. Josh stepped in at the last minute to make up the team for year 5 boys. Josh and Patrick battled all the way to line with Josh finishing in 5th place and Patrick in 6th place overall.

The results for the teams were:

Year 3 girls – 1st placed

Year 3 boys – 2nd place

Year 5 girls - 2nd place

Year 5 boys - 1st place

Overall Trophy for the competition – Wantage!
